As the name suggests, Mineshaft Finder allows you to find abandoned mineshafts in your world. All you need to use it is your map seed. Once you put that in, you'll see a couple of brown squares (if you don't, zoom out and move a bit around). These squares represent chunks which contain "starting points" of mineshafts.
